Lee Chee Leong may take legal action against Malaysia Chronicle

Friday, October 15, 2010

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 14 - Deputy Home Minister and Kampar Member of Parliament Datuk Lee Chee Leong today slammed Malaysia Chronicle for publishing an article that contained false and untruthful allegations of him having a hand in the decision to reject a RM 30 million donation offer to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR).

Lee said that he was neither consulted nor took part in any discussions with UTAR regarding the donations.

"I also don't own any property, investment or have any direct personal interest in the UTAR development," he added.

Lee also said that he is considering taking legal actions to protect his reputation after lodging a police report.

Malaysia Chronicle had published an article on September 27 this year entitled 'Koon's RM30mill offer: MCA protecting rental income of cronies?' that had allegedly linked Lee to real estate investors in Kampar who were supposedly speculating the rental rates.

In that article, former Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin allegedly told Malaysia Chronicle that MCA had close ties with the Kampar real estate developers near the UTAR campus
