KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 18, 2010): Pandan MP Dato’ Sri Ong Tee Keat today appealed to all Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) users and residents to be patient and understanding.

“Please bear with the traffic congestions and inconvenience caused by road works to upgrade the MRR2. We met ministry officials and project contractors last week and are trying to further smoothen traffic flow.

“Teething problems are expected in the implementation of any infrastructural project, not only MRR2. We hear the grouses of road users and residents affected by the MRR2 upgrade and are taking measures to ease the woes,” Ong said.

He said the MRR2 upgrading, costing RM104.5 million, started on Feb 22, 2010, and was due for completion in February 2012.

“According to the contractors, work progress is proceeding as scheduled and had covered about 30% of the project. The upgrade affects a 2.8km stretch from Tesco Ampang to Pandan Utama,” he added.

Ong said he had been actively engaging and interacting with Pandan residents to help resolve or ease the woes arising from the multi-million-ringgit upgrading of MRR2 which would eventually benefit all road users and Pandan residents.

“We are aware of the daily traffic congestions along the MRR2 during peak hours, particularly in Pandan Indah.

“We apologise for the inconvenience. The project will eventually benefit Pandan residents, so please bear with the teething problems to enjoy long-term convenience upon completion of the project,” he added.

Ong assured Pandan residents that he would be proactive in looking into their complaints and take up their complaints with the relevant authorities.
